 Meet Darius who many may know as Duke of Duke’s Grooming Studio. Since his youth he has alwavs had a passion for animals but specifically more drawn to dogs. In 2011, he moved to Chicago from Greenville Mississippi to attend The Illinois Institute of Art where Duke majored in fashion design and developed an eye for great design. With his fine arts background Duke was able to take two of his passions, dogs and design, to develop his brand/business Duke’s Grooming Studio. After many years as a professional groomer, Duke started to compete in dog grooming competitions to grow his skills and to eventually become one of the best groomers in the United States. Along his journey Duke has had the opportunity to host his, “Finished Faces” classes in NYC, ATLANTA, LA, & CHICAGO where he teaches others his 

signature style using clean lines and structure. 

Duke's journey in the world of dog grooming saw him enter into the world of grooming competitions with the expert guidance of Lis Johnston. As a member of the USA groom team and the captain of the Whitmans Groom Team, Lis Johnston's expertise and knowledge of the competition environment really helped Duke enter this new space with confidence. Duke's training with poodles under her guidance & the Whitmans Pro Team was an incredible experience, where he learned not only new skills to the art of grooming but also the 

nuances of handling canines in competition.

Duke has not only made a name for himself in the world of pet grooming but has also become a sought-after brand ambassador for prominent pet based companies as well. His role as a brand ambassador for Kenchii, Joyzee, Just Food For Dogs, and Andis speaks volumes about his influence and commitment to supporting businesses that champion diversity and inclusivity. These brands have embraced Duke's Grooming Studio, reflecting their dedication to uplifting and collaborating with diverse business owners. Duke's Grooming Studio, an establishment rooted in his passion for pet grooming, has been at the forefront of this effort, showcasing the importance of inclusivity in the pet care industry.

In 2022, Duke seized a unique opportunity to contribute to a national campaign during Pride Month, alongside renowned figures such as Tina Knowles and Jalen Rose, as well as other talented individuals. This campaign aimed to shed light on HIV prevention for all. Duke's participation in this vital initiative showcased his commitment to using his platform not just for pet grooming, but also for raising awareness and advocating for crucial causes. His involvement in this campaign underscored his dedication to supporting marginalized communities and using his influence to bring about positive change.
